From the groom:
“You know, that feeling you get when you you’re past the honeymoon phase, you’re having a romantic dinner with your date, time freezes, and instantly you know that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with this person. That’s exactly how I felt on September 17th, 2016. All of these emotions and events that led up to that moment started on June 23rd, 2015, the first day we met, or was introduced rather. Traditionally, most people meet in public settings like at parks walking their dogs, or in malls as you accidentally bump into each other looking for similar items. My Fiance, Shayna and I was introduced to each other through my mom. My mom was at work closing out a call that she received that involved her taking a juvenile a local hospital, where Shayna works. Intuition told my mom that Shayna and I would make a great couple, had we actually had a chance to meet. It took a little convincing, and a stamp of approval from her co-workers listening in, but she decided to give me a chance, and it worked. Went on a few dates and we never looked back! Fast forward to September 17th, 2016, I knew it was time to propose. Asking the woman I love for her hand in marriage, made me feel more nervous than my first day of school. For this special moment, I decided to charter a boat for a private, sunset dinner cruise for two. For dinner, I prepared cherry chili salmon, asparagus seasoned with salt, pepper, and lime, and wild rice. To drink, I bought her favorite wine, Bartenura moscato. We arrived at the docks promptly at 5:00 pm to set sail for our 3 hour cruise. I had already pre-downloaded old school R&B, hits and oldies, and even some of our favorites for our entertainment. It seemed like time went by so fast after we ate, and now it was time for the biggest moment in our lives. I had planned to propose at exactly 7:30 pm, right at sunset. So at exactly 7:28 pm I decided to read a poem to her detailing exactly how I felt about her. After she literally melted in front of me, I got down on one knee, asked her to be my wife, and that night made me the proudest man on Earth. I couldn’t believe that this woman, beautiful inside and out actually said yes to me!!! Still today I am the proudest man on Earth to be engaged to the love of my life. And it would not have been possible, our paths would have never crossed, if it weren’t for my mom’s intuition. I guess a mother really knows best!”
